My name is Kelsey Bergsieker and I’m proud to announce I’m the new Client Services Coordinator for Home of Hope. I’m from Dixon and I have my Masters Degree in Social Work with a specialization in health care. I happen to be the mother of three rambunctious young boys who I just adore! One of them also has a disability and I’m a huge advocate with an interest for those with special needs as well. I like to root for the underdog.
I have twelve years of social work experience. I’m very excited to work with those affected by cancer through a trauma-informed and holistic approach. I typically would say I work through a family-centered approach; however, the impact that cancer has ripples beyond just the family, friends and impacts our community as a whole. You could describe me as a dog with a bone when it comes to my new position because I am prepared to advocate, support and bring awareness to all affected by cancer with veracity that runs deep.
I will not pretend to be the ultimate expert on cancer, but I do have personal experience with that as well. Through hospice services, I was the caregiver to a cancer patient as well as a cancer survivor. I am working through a special lens for I have personal experience which has helped develop me to be your personal advocate. Not only am I dedicated to serving cancer patients, but I am here for the children, siblings, spouses and parents. I am here for the bereaved. My vow to Home of Hope and to you is to support you through your unique stories and experiences. Bring me your stories be it triumphs, traumas, and tribulations. My services are free. This path isn’t easy. Your story is important and so is your voice. My ears are open and so is my door.
