The moment you received your diagnosis, you became a survivor. Not after the last treatment, not after the final scan. From the very first day. This June, we celebrate you.
In this blog, we will embark on a profound exploration of the journey of survivorship, taking a moment to appreciate the remarkable accomplishments that come with overcoming cancer, celebrating the resilience of the human spirit, and nurturing a peaceful state of mind amidst the challenges.
“It is not the strength of the body that counts, but the strength of the spirit”
J.R.R Tolkien
What “Survivor” Really Means
Survivorship doesn’t look the same for everyone. Some survivors are currently in treatment. Some are in remission, some have been cancer-free for decades. Some are managing ongoing side effects. All of it counts, and all of it matters. Specialists have said survivorship is about recognizing the extraordinary resilience and strength of cancer patients and their loved ones. It’s not just about the finish line, but every day along the way.
You Don’t Have to Navigate it Alone
One of the most important things that National Cancer Survivors Month highlights is the vast resources and community that are available to you. Support groups, self-care services, free classes, or mental health services have expanded exponentially in recent years. That’s where Hope Cancer Wellness Center comes in, too.
We offer entirely free services to cancer patients, their loved ones or caregivers, and friends or family. Along with support calls, two monthly workshops or educational programs, online resources, and a team that is here to support you.
Key Takeaways
Your story, complicated, hard-won, and entirely your own, deserves to be honored every day. So this June, we celebrate the progress, the researchers, the caregivers, the strength that is carried every day, and most of all, YOU!
